Mattingly reminded me of all the kitties I've loved in my life. Growing up on a farm, you get no shortage of barn cats and kitties that come along each year. My favorite days were the times I'd go up to the haymow and find four new kittens hiding among the straw. I would immediately go get them warm milk (probably a bad move - i know nowww) as I imagined their mewing meant they were hungry. I was also led to believe from my dad, that once grown, cats eat dog food, but don't worry, I soaked it in milk because I was a good samaritan....like, cat cereal! Additionally, feel better because my best friend next door always had real cat food on hand, and I think quite a few of our cats ventured over a couple fields to them daily:)
For this painting, I used a palette of majorly corally-orange and purple, with a pop of lime green.
